Gerard Philips and his father Frederik founded Philips in Eindhoven in 1891. The company began with electric lamps and expanded over the following century into many areas of electronics before reshaping itself around health technology.
Today Royal Philips focuses on areas such as diagnostic imaging, image-guided therapy, monitoring, enterprise informatics, sleep and respiratory care, and personal-health products. Some consumer products carrying the Philips name are produced under brand-licensing arrangements, so the manufacturer and support route can differ by category.
Philips does not publish one universal consumer-support number for every product and country. Its corporate contact page directs consumers to the appropriate local customer-care site, while professional healthcare and corporate inquiries use separate channels.
