About Starz

STARZ is a premium entertainment brand built around subscription television, direct-to-consumer streaming and distribution through third-party platforms and multichannel television providers. The namesake U.S. premium network launched in 1994, while the modern corporate structure changed materially in 2025: on May 7, 2025 STARZ completed its separation from Lionsgate and began trading as a standalone public company on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol STRZ. That means older profiles that still describe STARZ simply as a Lionsgate subsidiary are no longer current. STARZ's corporate site describes the service as a premium entertainment destination with original series, movies, the STARZ app and distribution across digital OTT platforms and multichannel video distributors.

For customers, however, the party that bills the subscription can be just as important as the STARZ brand itself. A subscription purchased directly through STARZ can have different cancellation, refund and account-management steps from access purchased through Amazon, Apple, Roku, a cable provider or another partner. Users should therefore identify the billing channel before changing or disputing service, and they should not assume that deleting the STARZ app automatically cancels a third-party subscription. Programming availability can also vary by location, platform, rights window and package.

A show advertised by the network may not be available indefinitely, and channel lineups or on-demand libraries can differ between a direct streaming account and a television-provider package. STARZ maintains an official Help Center with account, streaming and technical guidance plus chat support. Its official affiliate-support FAQ directs subscriber and customer inquiries to help@starz.com or 855-247-9175; affiliate-engineering contacts on that same page are intended for distribution partners and should not be republished as ordinary consumer support. The company also operates investor relations separately from customer service.

Current investor material identifies STARZ as a standalone public company and lists operating offices in Santa Monica, California; Greenwood Village, Colorado; and New York City, while noting that the company is domiciled in Canada. Those corporate facts should not be confused with a customer's subscription contract. Customers reporting playback problems should keep the account email, billing platform, device model, app version and error information available, and should use support.starz.com rather than phone numbers surfaced by unrelated streaming-support websites. Current subscriber totals, revenue mix and individual program audience figures are moving statistics and are not suitable as permanent Profile details.
