About Canada Goose

Sam Tick founded Metro Sportswear Ltd. in Toronto in 1957, initially producing woolen vests, raincoats and snowmobile suits. The Snow Goose label emerged later and evolved into Canada Goose, which became the company’s global consumer brand.

The business expanded from heavy cold-weather parkas into lighter jackets, knitwear, footwear, accessories and other apparel. Canada Goose began selling directly online in Canada in 2014, opened its first flagship stores in Toronto and New York in 2016, and listed publicly in New York and Toronto in 2017.

Canada Goose says it continues to operate manufacturing facilities in Canada and has built its identity around performance apparel for severe weather. The company ended the purchase of fur in 2021 and stopped manufacturing with fur in 2022; product materials and country-of-origin details should still be checked item by item.
