A.C. Farnell Limited was founded in 1939. Over time the business expanded from electronic components into a broader engineering and distribution platform; Premier Farnell was acquired by Avnet in 2016, and the global customer-facing business was rebranded as Farnell, an Avnet company, in 2019.
Farnell sells semiconductors, passives, electromechanical parts, connectors, test equipment, tools, power products, single-board computers and other engineering supplies from thousands of manufacturers. Stock, minimum order quantities, export restrictions and technical documentation are product- and market-specific.
Customer service is localized by country. Farnell Japan, for example, publishes local sales, billing and technical-support channels and a 24/5 live-chat service. Orders should therefore be handled through the regional storefront used for the purchase rather than a generic global contact.
