About PING

Karsten Solheim created the original PING 1A putter in his garage in Redwood City, California, in 1959. The name came from the distinctive sound the putter made at impact. Solheim’s engineering approach helped popularize ideas such as heel-toe weighting and perimeter weighting, which became influential in modern putter and iron design.

PING developed from that first putter into a full golf-equipment business producing drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters, as well as bags, grips, apparel and accessories. The company remains family owned and continues to emphasize fitting and build specifications rather than treating every club as a one-size-fits-all product.

Custom fitting is central to PING’s sales model. Loft, lie, shaft, grip and club length can affect performance, and PING encourages players to work with authorized fitters when ordering built-to-spec equipment. Serial numbers are also important because they help identify original build information and are commonly used for repair, warranty or replacement enquiries.

U.S. Consumer Relations handles product questions, repair and warranty cases at 1-800-474-6434 and through the official customer-service pages. Regional PING organizations outside the United States maintain their own contacts and policies, so customers should use the market where the product was bought or serviced.
