Sodimac began in Chile in 1952 as a cooperative created to improve access to construction materials for companies in the sector. Its operating assets were acquired by Dersa in 1982, after which the business expanded and developed the Homecenter and Constructor retail formats that became central to the brand.
The company expanded internationally in the 1990s and became part of the Falabella group in 2003. Today Sodimac serves household customers, tradespeople, contractors and business buyers through stores and digital channels in multiple Latin American markets, with product categories spanning building materials, tools, hardware, home improvement, décor and garden.
The Homecenter and Constructor formats serve overlapping but different needs. Homecenter emphasizes home improvement and consumer retail, while Constructor is more oriented toward professional builders and larger project requirements. Product assortment, credit options, delivery capacity and store services vary by country and location.
Customer service is localized by market. In Chile, Sodimac publishes an official customer-service directory with phone, WhatsApp and social-support routes, including 600 329 2002 and the @SodimacAyuda account on X. Orders and returns should be handled through the country where the purchase was made because policies and legal entities differ across Latin America.
