Soma is a U.S. women’s intimates and apparel brand created and launched by Chico’s FAS in 2004. The brand was developed as a dedicated lingerie and comfort-focused concept separate from the Chico’s and White House Black Market fashion businesses, and its current consumer positioning still emphasizes bras, underwear, sleepwear and loungewear designed around fit and comfort. The corporate structure changed in 2024 when Chico’s FAS became part of KnitWell Group. KnitWell now operates a portfolio that includes Ann Taylor, Chico’s, Haven Well Within, Lane Bryant, LOFT, Soma, Talbots and White House Black Market.
Soma remains a distinct customer-facing brand with its own stores, Soma.com, rewards program and customer-service operation even though it shares a larger operating group. That relationship is worth explaining because older company profiles can still describe Soma only as a Chico’s FAS brand without reflecting the present KnitWell ownership. Fit is central to the product category and is also one of the areas where a generic brand description is least useful. Bras differ by band, cup, wire construction, padding, support level and shape, and the same stated size can fit differently across styles.
Soma publishes size charts and offers assistance from customer-service or store associates, but online guidance cannot fully replace trying on a garment when fit is uncertain. Changes in body measurements, brand sizing and bra construction can all affect comfort. Underwear, sleepwear and loungewear follow different sizing and fabric rules again. Customers should use the product-specific chart, material information and care label instead of treating a size that works in one bra or pajama set as automatically transferable to another. Soma also sells through stores and online, and the transaction channel matters for returns and support.
Online orders can be tracked through the account or order inquiry system, while store purchases begin with the receipt and store policy. International orders can use different fulfillment and return procedures, and current policy materials distinguish international returns from ordinary U.S. boutique returns. Credit-card accounts are separate from merchandise customer service. Soma’s current FAQ directs card servicing to Synchrony, while general product and order support uses Soma’s own customer-service team. Soma currently publishes live chat, customerservice@soma.com and 866-768-7662 for customer support. Rewards rules are also separate from ordinary retail terms.
Points, certificates and cardmember benefits have their own expiration and eligibility rules and can change; temporary free-shipping thresholds or coupon combinations should not be embedded in an evergreen profile. Product materials deserve attention because lingerie sits directly against the skin. Fabric composition, elastic, lace, dyes and care requirements differ, and sensitive customers should check the exact garment rather than assuming every Soma product uses the same material. A marketing description such as “soft” or “comfortable” is subjective and should not be converted into a universal claim.
Temporary promotions, rewards multipliers, fashion collections and store counts should remain on the live site. A customer comparing Soma with another intimates brand should focus on fit, material, support design, current return rules, purchase channel and whether in-person fitting assistance is available.
