Waitrose traces its history to 1904, when Wallace Waite and Arthur Rose formed Waitrose Ltd. The business joined the John Lewis Partnership in 1937 and later developed into one of the Partnership's two principal consumer brands alongside John Lewis.
The retailer operates supermarkets and smaller formats, online grocery delivery, Click & Collect, myWaitrose loyalty services and specialist areas such as Cellar and food-to-order. In 2026 Waitrose continued investing in new shop formats, online services and third-party delivery partnerships.
Customer service is split by issue type, with dedicated forms for online orders, product quality and store feedback plus general phone and email support. John Lewis, John Lewis Money and Waitrose have separate customer-service teams despite sharing the same parent partnership.
